Should I Upgrade to ie7?

Answer:

Answer
No. Internet explorer is slow and glitchy. change your browser. Mozilla is stupid, because it tries to act as a rebel. Use Opera. (http://www.opera.com/)

The answer above seems to be written by a ten year old who uses Opera.
Usually the question "Should I upgrade to IE7" can be broken into two parts:

1. Should I upgrade from IE6 to IE7 now?
Yes you should. Most of the laments and problems that people had with the upgrade are from 2006 and early 2007. IE7 has come a long way since then, so it is safe to upgrade now. It may need some getting used to as the interface is a bit newer, but it's undoubtedly more secure than IE6 and shows websites in a slightly better way. IE7 also better honors the ClearType anti-aliasing of fonts, so websites appear a lot clearer than before. In any case, Microsoft may at some point make it mandatory for computers to use IE7. As of this writing, in Aug 2008, it is certainly better to use IE7 than it is to use any of the older versions of IE.

2. Should I use IE at all -- latest version or otherwise?
This is a subjective question. If you must use IE then please consider using Maxthon (http://www.maxthon.com) which is a free enhancement to Internet Explorer. It adds a lot of Firefox-like functionality to IE, and the interface is a bit more intelligent than that of IE7's.

Alternatively, in its version 3.x avatar, Firefox (htp://getfirefox) is a very fast and small footprint browser. It's usable basically out of the box, but I recommend some of the basic extensions to it such as AdBlock Plus (you'll never use IE again), SecureLogin, Tab Mix Plus, Better Gmail2, Customize Google, PDF Download, Fast Video Downloader. For web development, nothing beats Firefox these days with Web Developer extension, or FireBug, or Live HTTP Headers.

As the previous commenter mentioned, Opera is quite a decent browser as well, but many sites simply don't work in it. Yes, even as of today with its 9.5 version. And some of the extensions to which I have become used to in Firefox, are painfully possible inside Opera with "panels". Not fun. That said, Opera's rendering of images is still unparalleled. For browsing images, it's absolutely the best as it can scale images too, not only text.

Hope this helps but in summary: I use Firefox as my main stable sensible browser, but keep IE and Opera (and Apple's Safari) on my machine for specific tasks. They are all free anyway.
