All states in the United States, as well as many other countries, have laws that require doctors to report evidence of child abuse. The doctor should always report his or her suspicions and leave it to others to do the investigating.

∙ 10y agoIn most of the United States, only those who frequently come in contact with children, such as teachers, coaches and medical professionals (doctors and nurses) are mandated to report child abuse or neglect. In 18 states, all citizens must report child abuse if they witness or suspect it. In most of Europe, only social workers, medical professionals and police are mandatory reporters.
