The Australian government website, among many others, goes to great length in their discussion of the subject and their abhorence of it. my mom's brother and their first cousin married years ago and now have grandchildren. I dont think it is wrong.

No country other than South Korea, as far as I know, has any legal restrictions on sexual relations or marriages between second cousins.
Even the Roman Catholic Church (which had the most restrictive rules in the world at one time) now accepts second-cousin marriages. None of the major Protestant denominations have ever banned second-cousin marriages.

Example: You do not go to school naked because such behavior is not approved. Similarly in almost all communities in the world sex with cousin is not approved. This is the reason first cousins do not marry. Hence, though having feelings about your cousin is natural, restraining yourself is prudent. Just as it is possible to have feelings about your teacher, but avoiding sex with the teacher is necessary because it is not approved.
Having sexual feelings need not give you guilt but, provoked by the same feelings having sex with first cousin is not approved.

Some cultures find such relationships strange and others consider them to be incest and cause for condemnation and even punishment.
