Personally, i would always take out insurance even if the travel is only domestic. There are still an awful lot of things that can go wrong whether you're leaving your home country or not and it's not worth the risk. Domestic Travel Insurance can work out a lot cheaper than international insurance so I would always say yes, you should make sure you're insured. In my experience, www.insuremore.co.uk is the best place to look as they are very reasonably priced and have options for single or multi trip insurance.
