Supplementing these into your diet can prevent trips to the hospital and lower prescription costs as a lot of vitamins and herbs found can be taken in replacement of certain drugs.

it doesn't hurt to take a multivitamin supplement. It ensures you are getting your daily amount and keeps you healthier and your immune system working well. The only time that it would be harmful is if you are getting too much of a vitamin or mineral. Check with your doctor or nutritionist to see if you need a multivitamin or a more specific vitamin supplement based on your diet.

Actually new research has shown that isolated vitamins can do more harm than good. Your body needs everything is synergy, not a few isolated nutrients in massive amounts (which is what a multivitamin is). Take an apple for instance, it has 10,000-12,000 known nutrients in it, your average multivitamin has 17-30 isolated.
