There is two types of eclipse.
One is where the Moon gets in between the Sun and the Earth, and blocks out some of the sunlight reaching the Earth. A shadow is cast on the Earth.
This is called an eclipse of the Sun, otherwise known as a Solar Eclipse.
The other is where the Earth gets in between the Sun and the Moon. When the Moon moves into the shadow of the Earth, we call it an eclipse of the Moon. This is also known as a Lunar Eclipse.
