You dont need a new engine you just need a manual flywheel and a clutch kit, dont get a clutch kit from a parts store though, you can get a racing clutch kit offline for cheaper most of the timeAnswerYes you can change an auto to a manual. All you have to do is buy the engine and manual transmission and the tranny bolts right in. At least that is what I have heard b/c i want to do it to my 1995 Eagle Talon. and about $1000 in labor.
96 eagle talon TSI and its not starting but the car has power to every thing it just wont try to turn over any idea why?
have you had your battery out at all or messed with it in any way because i had this problem my talon has three wires that go onto the positive side of the battery and if you dont have the starter wire on then it wont turn over but everything else works. try looking to see if you have this hooked up and if you dont hook it up

You've probably got a bad motor mount. In drive the engine and trans twist in an opposite direction from when in reverse. In drive, you get an unwanted electrical connection (like Battery+ to Battery-) somewhere near the starter or the alternator or a sensor or ignition coil causing the stall. Replace any bad motor mounts and you should be OK.
