Best guess is the onset of a migraine headache, although more detail would help (feel free to add to the Discussion section of this question). Has this happened before? Does it come and go? Anything new in your routine?
Very much depends where it is, how often it occurs, how long it lasts etc. could be migraine, if it's in the face it could be trigeminal neuralgia (you'd know - its one of the most painful conditions known). There are a million reasons, from teeth-grinding causing pressure and misalignment, through any number of maxillo-facial, neuro and other conditions. If it is severe or frequent, go and see a doctor.
A headache that is primarily behind the eye is called a cluster headache. A cluster headache can be controlled by over the counter pain relief such as Advil.

Pain behind (retro) the eye (orbit)
what would cause a sharp pain then numbest above the right temple, also watery right eye
Simply that. Pain. It is a reaction of the nervous system to trauma.
It could be anything. A sti, its like a pimple on your eye. You can have pink eye, or maybe something in your eye. ... It could also be a severe headache with the pain centered in the eye or behind-the-eye area. The best advice is probably... go see a Doctor. It's very dangerous to try to diagnose yourself about serious things.
Too much pressure in the eye, or something pushing from behind it, GO GET CHECKED OUT !!!!!!!
POUNDING PAIN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF TEMPLE AND RIGHT EYE PAIN ONLY
Well my pain was right above my eyes and in my eye sockets and I saw an eye doctor. He told me I have Isophoria (not sure how to spell it) and I need to wear glasses when I read, get on the computer or watch TV. It helps some but i take ibuprofen every other day or so.
