check compression you probably got it so hot that the piston rings are not sealing, you can put a couple squirts of oil in eash of the spark plug holes and see if compression raises
The head, along with everything above it, will have to be removed. If the engine overheated then the head could be warped as well.
Hopefully, it's the thermostat... but, if the engine has seriously overheated it could be a damaged head gasket caused by a warped head. Engine heads will warp slightly when the engine overheats, then there is insufficient pressure on the head gasket and the gasket will leak.
The Quad 4 has alot of head gasket problems. Have the system pressure tested, and or have a block test done to check for exhaust gasses in the cooling system..If the vehicle has overheated recently more likely than not it has a warped head.. RxAuto.com
make sure the leak is not coming from above the starter, like from the valve cover gasket, if it isn`t then it probably is the rear crankshaft seal which would require the removal of the tranny to replace.
If a 1995 Chevy Cavalier overheated and will not start, try checking some of the sensors near the radiator. The radiator could be leaking which caused the overheating, and in turn, caused a sensor to get wet in the engine compartment.
Your engine most likely overheated
has the car been overheated?
The most common cause is an engine that overheated.
No, head gaskets usually blow because the engine overheated or there was a defect in the gasket or head during production.
my car overheated and now i have excessive water coming out the tailpipe of my 97 Nissan altima . is the head gasket blown ?
your head gasket is probaly blown.
It might happen because of a faulty starter gasket. :)
The head will have to be pulled and the gasket replaced. If the car overheated the head may have warped and will need to be resurfaced or replaced as well.
No reason to if the intake gasket is the only problem you have. If engine was running smooth and was not overheated then there is no reason to fool with the HEAD gaskets
Has the engine ever been overheated ? That will do it !
Needs a new head gasket, and maybe heads and pistons.
because the block is cracked or a head is cracked. or if you are lucky it could be just a head gasket. Has it overheated?
