"The Diary of Anne Frank" recounts the experiences of a Jewish girl named Anne Frank who, along with her family, went into hiding during World War II in German-occupied Netherlands to escape persecution. The diary she kept during their time in hiding provides a poignant and intimate account of their struggles, fears, and hopes while living in confinement. Tragically, they were eventually discovered and sent to concentration camps.

Since it's actually a diary, there is no real plot. But what the book tells about is all that her family had to go through, how hard it was for her to deal with seven other people in one area, and what it's like living in an area where you have to be quiet all day and eat the same thing repeatedly for days, and how you can't eat as much as you'd like to, and even some romance between Anne and Peter.

Diary of a Young Girl covers the Nazi occupation of Holland (Amsterdam specifically) through the eyes of a teenage girl called Anne. The book is factual, being a faithful publication of the diary that was discovered after Anne herself was killed in the Holocaust. The plot line is not very involved, as the family were living in hiding, in complete isolation for the duration of the occupation until they were discovered. The subjects covered within the books are those relevant to a teenage girl: Friends, love, family interactions, boredom, frustration and current affairs.
