I know that one of the symptoms is that the dog is often unable to control when and where it urinates. Sometimes they'll leave a lot of little puddles around the house. Also if it's severe I think that there can sometimes be blood in the urine. * ALONG WITH THE FREQUENT URINATING AND PRESENTS OF BLOOD THERE CAN ALSO BE SOME SWELLING IN THE LOWER ABDOMEN RIGHT AROUND WHERE THE BLADDER IS LOCATED AND AN UNUSUALLY STRONG SMELL OF AMMONIA AT TIME OF URINATION.. PLEASE GET YOUR PET TO THE VET ASAP, BLADDER INFECTIONS WHEN LEFT UNTREATED CAN LEAD TO POTENTIONALLY SERIOUS AND SOMETIMES FATAL SECONDARY INFECTIONS... Kechara

AnswerIt is difficult to tell if the pup is not yet house trained, but one of the common symptoms is that the pup may start urinating small amounts anywhere in the house. Pup may then return to training pads/newspaper to urinate a larger quantity. If the pup is house trained ( i.e requests to go outside to urinate) and suddenly starts urinating in the house, this usually signifies a bladder infection.

* Frequent urge to urinate but often the amount of urine passed is small.

* Painful, burning feeling in the area of the bladder or urethra, during urination.

* Fatigue

* Fever (This often means that the infection has moved into the kidney).

* The urine can look cloudy or milky. If blood is present then the color will be reddish

* Urine can smell offensive

My first indication of bladder infection was while urinating it felt as if the hole where your urine comes out was closing up making it harder to come out. This increased to the point where it felt like you are urinating through a tiny pin hole creating the pain. Left untreated blood becomes mixed in with your urine. After seeing a physician and getting a dose of antibiotics the pain subsided within a day or so.
