The first person to fly solo non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean was Charles Lindbergh.
Lindbergh, Charles Augustus (1902-1974), an American aviator, made the first solo nonstop flight across the Atlantic Ocean on May 20-21, 1927. Other pilots had crossed the Atlantic before him. But Lindbergh was the first person to do it alone nonstop.

However there were a good number of crew-served Transatlantic Flights including a four- Patrol Bomber task force- three craft making the trip intact-one dropping out- in l9l9. This was the Navy Sponsored NC-4 expedition. There were two- multi-crewed of necessity- Zeppelin Crossings. All of these occured before Lindbergh"s flight. It was the first one-man solo flight over the transatlantic course-yes, but there were many more sociable crew-served air missions over the ocean before this- including also the Douglas World Cruisers- which used a fleet of two-man Biplanes in l924. This was sponsored directly by the Army ( as the song has it, the Air Force was originally part of the Army). so it went.
