Hungary and Great Britain are tied for the most gold medals in men's football with 3. The Soviet Union and Uruguay have won 2 gold and Yugoslavia, Argentina, Poland, Spain, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, France, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, and Nigeria have won 1 gold.
In women's football, the United States has won 2 gold medals and Norway has won 1.
