The television may be At Fault. Try using a known good remote. If it doesn't work and you are not blocking the signal with items sitting in front of the TV and the sensor panel is clean then that is what you tell them at the shop.

The remote may need to be readdressed to the receiver. This can be done from the system information screen. The complete steps have been provided below.
Addressing Remote to Receiver:
1.) Go to System Info screen.
2.) Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3.) Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4.) Press the pound (#) button.
5.) Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
6.) Test remote and see if it works.
I had this problem where the Fios remote control stopped responding to inputs on certain screens like the DVR, menu, or program guide screen. The issue was infrared interference due to the Panasonic TV picture mode. If you have a Panasonic TV and the picture mode is set to VIVID it can cause this issue. Set the picture to a different mode and you will be fine.
If remote control for television will not function then you have to control the television manually.
Change THE BATTERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or you have to set the code to the DVD. The remotes code should be in the options booklet.
Maybe it needs new batteries.
think vcr, it is not considered a tv but a vcr for codes on the remote.
