most asian martial arts origionate from Wushu (also known as Kung Fu). Kung Fu was introduced to the Chinese by one of Buddha's diciples, Bodhiddarma. His teaching was that the art of combat, when not used to harm, can be used as a meditation method in the greater path of enlightenment.
