The ways of England are not the ways of the world. In the mid to late 1800's, it was a belief that many British believed in. A good movie to watch to help explain it would be "Anna and the King". It is about a British widow from Britain that is sent to the country of Siam to teach Prince Chulalongkorn, King Mongkut's son, western education. However, when Anna arrives at the palace, the king asks her to teach all of his children. While in Siam, the king and Anna become very close.
