What you're describing could be a number of problems, cupped tires, bad wheel bearing, worn idler pulley bearing, cracked serpentine belt, loose body part that's vibrating in the wind... It's difficult to figure out what you're trying to describe. Could be your Torque Converter or Power Steering pump among other things. Answer if this happens when the car is in motion,check the wheel bearings

is the humming coming from the front end of the vehicle? i have a 1996 explorer with the same issue. yes the noise come from the front but not all the time seems to make the humming noise when it gets hot
