The best way to stop bleeding in the upper leg is through direct pressure. Apply a thick bandage and bind this with a crepe bandage.
Elevate the leg to make it harder for the blood to pump. This controls the bleeding fairly effectively. Seek for medical attention urgently if an artery is damaged. This may cause death fast if prompt medical attention is not sought.
Femoral
Pressure. Is placed on the venipuncture site until bleeding stops
For pressure point bleeding control, you should put direct pressure on a pressure point, an area where blood vessels run close to the surface, usually at a point where a pulse can be found.Common pressure points:Arm between shoulder and elbow - brachial arteryGroin area along bikini line - femoral arteryBehind the knee - popliteal artery
Pressure is applied on the vein until bleeding stops completely.
Apply pressure with a clean paper towel or tissue until it stops bleeding. if it does not stop bleeding after 45 minutes to an Hour, see a doctor
At that point, if you have not yet tied a tourniquet, tie one above the wound making sure it is tight, keep it at an elevation and keep adding direct pressure to the wound. Not much else can be done to stop bleeding. If you can see the blood vessels themselves you can use a cautery if you have one (It essentially uses heat to close off the blood vessel).
After tooth removal you should keep gauze in your mouth over the wound and apply gentle pressure until you have stopped bleeding. If bleeding continues for 36-48 hours contact your dentist/doctor.
For minor wounds the best method is direct pressure. This can be applied by simply pressing a cloth to the wound, or by applying a tight (but not too tight) bandage.
For 3 mins or until bleeding stops
Oxytocin is usually given to help the uterus contract which would help prevent too much bleeding. But bleeding will still happen, although not to the point of hemorrhaging, that's just normal.
Basic First Aid 1) remove the jewellery 2) apply gauze and direct pressure to the area 3) wait with pressure applied, the body will attempt to form clots to stop the bleeding. Do not try to reinsert the jewellery once the bleeding stops, this will cause the bleeding to re-occure.
