This has been shown through the first satellite launch- Sputnik 1- the first human to ever enter space, kasmonavt Yuri Gargian, the first space station, MIR, and the first rocket launch of a living creature (a dog) into space on the Vostok I. They created the first hydrogen bomb, and have the world's largest amount of resources.
Norway is the most developed country in the world achieving about a .94 on the scale of 0-1.0, according to the United Nations. The United States is the 4th most developed country (.90), and China is the 91st most developed country (.66) and has quite some catching up to do if you believe it will become the world's most developed country.
