These are VERY cool. In the following i will explain the getting, finding, and give links.
First, getting the trail. There are 3 different class trails (class 1, 2, 3) that come from different monsters or from NPC. The lower level monster you kill the lower the class (i.e. if you kill a guard you will get level 1 scroll, but if you kill a kbd you will get a lvl 3.) If you want a chart I suggest you go to the Runescape Wiki or Sal's realm of Runescape. Now, what does the different class mean? Well, the higher the class the better the rewards. The rewards are AMAZING. If you get a lvl 3 clue, you could get a Dragon med helm, even a platebody. Again, for a chart of all the rewards got to sal's or RS wiki.
If you have a trail then you have to find it. Although Jagex dislikes this (they won't ban you) you can go to a RS site and find any type of clue answer. The part that I dislike is finding it because there are many different types of clues. I can't explain it very well but again you can got to those RS sites (Runescape Wiki or Sal's realm of Runescape) and find a more detailed answer.
Overall, if you want anymore info you can search the internet for runescape{ put subject here}

You cannot trim armour in Runescape. You get trimmed armour from Treasure Trails. (members only.) To start Treasure Trails, kill things, (I kill Varrock guards) and get clue scrolls. After that, your on your own. Hope I answered your question.
No, that is only for members. However, F2P players can BUY certain items from treasure trails - for example, Saradomin armour, or gold-trimmed armour.
Nope there's no limits, as long as you get one as a drop, you can do it.
the only way to get any trimmed armour in runescape w/o paying coins is by treasure trails. you can only do these if your a member:)
Members can sometimes get trimmed or gold-trimmed items from treasure trails. Non-members can buy them on the Grand Exchange.
