If you live within 200 miles of Rock Hill SC, there is a trucking company that specialises in being a second chance industry for ex felons. All felons! They do not discriminate!
I have worked for this company for 13 months in the past and it has its perks as well as its downside.
First I will discuss the perks.
The downside.
For many felons, especially someone those on probation or parole, this company gives them the chance that no one else will, and they are trying to be part of the solution and not the problem. I don't work for them anymore because I found a great local job 8 miles from home.
The name of the company is
Carolina Cargo
(803)-789-3100
good luck to all reformed offenders
If you truly are an ex-felon, then the conviction was overturned, and you're no longer a felon. Thus, you should be eligible for any trucking company, provided you meet their employment criteria. If this is not your case, then you're an ex-con, but remain a felon. Carolina Cargo is probably the company you would like to check first.
What part of NC, how much experience do you have, and are you looking for local, OTR, regional, etc.?
If you're in the Raleigh-Durham area, have driving experience, and are interested in construction, you can try Raleigh-Durham Roadbuilders (formerly Granite), Lane Construction/Rea Contracting/Asphalt Materials, Barnhill Contracting, etc.
Another company you can check out is Puryear Trucking - there's two companies by the name of Puryear. One is located at the intersection of US1 and NC55, between Apex and Holly Springs. You won't be able to get a job with Puryear Tank Lines (I'll explain why in a minute), but you might be able to get a job pulling end dump trailers. The other Puryear facility is located on Lease Lane, which is off of US70.. you'll have to Mapquest it, because I don't remember exactly how to get there offhand.
If you're interested in going over-the-road, any interstate carrier can hire you from anywhere in the country. If you want to look into that, I would suggest you go to a TA Travel Center, Petro Travel Center, Wilco-Hess Truck Stop, Pilot, Love's, etc. and pick up some of the free publications available for truck drivers and prospective truck drivers.. particularly, the one published by Truck Job Seekers. Call those companies, and find out what they say.
At the bottom, I'll include a couple links to internet resources you can use.
If you're in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, have previous truck driving experience, and are interested in getting into the road construction industry, you're free to send me an email (address is listed in my profile). I am very well connected there.
Bear in mind that you won't be eligible for any job which requires a hazmat endorsement, or any trucking company requiring their drivers to possess a hazmat endorsement - applicants for the hazmat endorsement must undergo a criminal background check through the TSA.
There are a few trucking companies in Georgia that may be willing to hire felons. Try CR England, and Southern US Trucking.

It is very possible to get your CDL and obtain employment as a truck driver, even if you have a felony on your record.
you would have more friends in jail
None
Training will not cost much at all. In fact most trucking companies will actually pay you to train.
If you want to become a travel agent in Tennessee, you first need to apply to different companies. Many of the agencies will train and certify you themselves.
Careers like professional firefighters, policemen and military, all provide training. Many companies witll pay for your schooling or advanced training once you are hired by them. Some trucking companies witl hire and then train you.
Wreck of the Tennessee Gravy Train was created in 1930.
Naturally, it would depend on where you start.
