In my prior life, I practiced insurance law, taught insurance, and consulted for a major publisher on the development of insurance books and online resources for the industry. A brain tumor rendered me unable to practice law any longer (prematurely retired), but I have a store of knowledge that I wish to share.
I am now attempting to assist people in breaking down many kinds of problems that they encounter into constituent parts, explaining the issues, and helping them to find solutions or resources. This includes the elderly, people with communications difficulty such as aphasia or resulting from stroke, and other afflictions.
Additionally, I attempt to assist the "Sandwich Generation" and Generations X, Y and Z. These are populations that often struggle with the demands of raising their own children while also attending to the needs of aging parents. I look forward to them "off-loading" some of the research and search for alternatives, and serving as a sounding board for their ideas. While I certainly do not profess to have all of the answers, my experience is that most people can reach conclusions that are best for them once they have an objective view of the issues and alternatives. It may boil down to them becoming better able to see the forest once the trees have been cleared.
I am attempting to reinvent myself in the foregoing ways, plus becoming a more devoted father and husband.
Volunteer work consumes a great deal of my time, including work with animal rescue organizations.
The time that "retirement" has freed up is also spent reading and becoming more conversant with political theory--mostly that which emphasizes and is grounded in individual liberty. I am an unabashed capitalist and believe that government intervention into business and personal life causes and does not solve problems.
