I'm Matthew, an Answers.com Supervisor, here to help with all your WikiAnswering needs! I remember when I first met WikiAnswers. I could say it was love at first site but I just thought it was a cool concept... Anyone can ask a question and receive one answer from the community that was improved through collaboration over time. As I started returning to the site on a regular basis, my passion for tidying up the site began to kick in and before I knew it I was up all night, strung out on splitting and merging. lol I've been a full-blown Wikiholic for quite some time now and I doubt there are enough steps in any recovery program to stop me from WikiAnswering. ;)
My specialty is splitting erroneous alternate wordings from their parent question. Oftentimes when a user asks a question they will hastily indicate that it is the same as another existing question when it actually isn't. Their question is then added as an alternate wording for that existing question. If an alternate wording is asking something different (even if it is a slight variation on the parent question, i.e. "What is the population of New York City?" vs. "What was the population of New York City in 2007?") it should be split into a separate question so that it can receive a customized answer of its own. There are only a few exceptions to this rule. If you would like to learn more about splitting alternate wordings or are in doubt over whether an alternate wording should be split off feel free to post a note for me on my message board.

To my knowledge, I hold the distinction of being the first supervisor to be temporarily blocked from the site (before we had a dedicated jokes category I had posted too many cheesy joke questions and answers!).
