During my working career I once worked for the United States Army in Germany as a tracked vehicle mechanic and served with the British Army in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Until my retirement I was employed by Unilever in one of their distribution depots.
When at school I enjoyed mathematics and English and so the opportunity arose to study both subjects once again as a mature student at Wirral Metropolitan College and other educational establishments. This involved studying these subjects from an introduction level to a higher level and examinations were taken under strict supervised conditions in which I successfully passed them all with exceptionally good results.
Altogether I achieved fourteen formal qualifications and at a prize giving ceremony the college awarded me special certificates of merit for outstanding work in mathematics and English.
I have written dozens and scores of letters to my local newspaper the Liverpool Echo covering a variety of topics in which all of them were published and many of them can be found on the Internet.
