His book launched nationwide on October 1, 2009 titled, http://wiki.answers.com/Dougwallace.net/ is an engaging memoir about the riveting journey of a child desperately seeking to escape the vicious cycle of poverty. In December 2009, the memoir won the prestigious Indie Bound Next List Notable Award in the best non-fiction category.

The book can be purchased on the Internet at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, and also at Ebay. The book can also be purchased new at eBook retailers such as Kindle, and Sony Reader, as well as other online eBook sites. Doug chose to write the story of his rise from generational poverty to wealth independence, as a way to call attention to the unimaginable hardships for the generationally impoverished. Today the book is being used by public and private schools across America, from 5th grade through high school, and also by universities, as required reading for students taking classes in sociology.
