I was born and raised in Rhode Island, a small state that's big on charm. If you don't believe me, visit Newport in the summer and make sure to try the lobsta and chowda. Since I never did master the New England accent, I was given a passport to leave the region after graduating from UMass Amherst with my degree in Journalism. I then moved to Philadelphia where I wrote for a national small business publication, Entrepreneurial Edge. It was in the City of Brotherly Love that I earned my chops as a city-girl. I decided to put my urban sophistication to the test, and moved to New York City in 1999. There, I joined Office.com as the Editor for the advertising/marketing section. Later, I became the Multimedia Producer, researching and writing television news segments syndicated to CBS. During this time, I sampled some of New York's finest nightlife by freelancing for The Cyber Scene, an online publication devoted to reporting on parties hosted by Silicon Alley's digerati. I also satiated my inner geek by writing for Web Hosting Magazine. When the dot.com bubble burst, I bunkered down in a Masters program where I studied Education. I made good with my degree by teaching Special Education English and Math for four years to middle school students. I came back to Manhattan in August 2006, and hope to catch up on all the new restaurants I've missed, while still being able to pay my rent.
