Hi, folks. I'm Ken Mitchell and I live in a suburb of Sacramento, California. The "WD0ELQ" part of my handle is my amateur radio callsign. I have a bachelor of science degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Kansas, with strong interests in astronomy, engineering and history. Like the Elephant's Child, I have "satiable curiosity" and my brain is stuffed with 40 years worth of every manner of assorted trivia. Too bad I can't make a living at Trivial Pursuit! I was even on the TV program "Jeopardy", but didn't win any money.
I spent 21 years in the U.S. Navy searching for submarines and retired from the USN having served a grand total of three nights aboard a ship. And my sailor friends tell me that the ship I was on doesn't count, because the ship was the R.M.S. Queen Mary, which is, like WELDED to the pier in Long Beach CA as a hotel, and will never again sail as much as a yard. (It really couldn't; the propellers are mounted on a dock as a static display. ) But I say that a ship is a ship!
Since my retirement in January 1990, I have worked with computers and I now work as a computer specialist. Well, generalist, more accurately, but I do get paid to play with computers all day. And most afternoons. And some lovely evenings....
