I'm a recovering alcoholic, I am also recovering from severe depression. I'm an Apple Mac fan and general computer lover. I enjoy Hypercard on the Mac and Visual Basic on Windows and love coming up with small programming exercises, particularly to solve magazine 'brainteaser' type puzzles. I also enjoy reading (generally Science and Philosophy) and can cook quite well. I'm married with one child.
.
I'm an agnostic-bordering-on-athiest - which some people find hard to reconcile with my interest in the Bible Statistics category. That's easily answered - I have a HyperCard version of the KJV which allows for rapid searches for any word or phrase string enquired of. Otherwise I see the Bible as something which, while containing lots of wisdom, is past its time of relevance in people's lives - we are no longer a desert-dwelling, nomadic, bronze-age people.
.
What people choose to believe doesn't concern me - and what I choose to believe shouldn't concern anyone. But it seems to annoy some.

Mentoring
I have to thank my mentor for the fact that I graduated from the mentoring programme (Please spell that word properly!) ;-P
He, and others, made my passage to Supervisordom easy and embarrassment-free (almost).

I would strongly recommend the Mentoring Programme to any rookie Supervisors.

I welcome anyone to whom I respond to send a pm seeking any clarification they might want.

Contributions
So, ooodles of contributions? Yeah maybe... or maybe I have to go back and edit my typing a bit too often!

I tend to only answer unanswered Qs. I do my WA-ing in spare moments snatched at work or while half-watching the TV, and don't think I'd be bothered reading and checking on other people's answers - unless asked to look at something in particular.

My way of looking at what I do here is "instant, off the cuff, responses to subjects I know something about, or where I know where to find the answers rapidly," I leave it to others to put flesh on the bones and have no problem with any answer I give being edited by someone more knowledgable than I.

Honesty time
I have a strange sense of humour (and was once known as EvilTony by colleagues because of it), so you may occasionally find a wry aside in my answers. A reference to Tweety-Pie springs to mind!

WAmmy
Honours
Wow! What can I say? I'm honoured by the people who have put me in the position of receiving this Honourable Mention. Note the correct spelling of Honourable :-)

The approach I take to most Qs I answer is to try to see wht lies behind the actual wording, and to supply that little bit of extra information that might help the questioner understand the why and how behind the answer.

I do a lot of answering in the Math category and always include the method of finding the answer and not just the answer. This way the questioner might be able to answer their next problem on their own.

If the reward me with a trust point then I'm glad to have earned it.

Vandal Patrol
I have recently joined the ranks of wannabe "WA beauticians"!
The amount of accidental and deliberate "litter" requires a lot of people with brooms and dump-trucks - not to mention whitewash, to stem the problem. Think about joining.

Special Interest section
As someone who wavers constantly between atheism and agnosticism, I am fascinated by people's Qs on the Bible, and their interest in how often certain words or phrases are mentioned.

I have created a searchable database of the King James version and attempt to answer as many of those "How often...." Qs as I can.
