Farming on the Web! Is this 'dirtless farming'? I live in farm country, the Yakima Valley of Washington State, where corn, apples, potatoes, tomatos, cherries, apricots, peaches, pears, cantaloupe, watermelon, and pumpkins are grown. This is also the world's leading area for the production of hops, which are used in making beer. I am of middle age, technically oriented, and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. I served as an Avionics Navigation Systems Technician, which is where I received my initial technical training. I have also attended college, at several institutions, studying computer programing, among other things. I enjoy reading, photography, listening to music, and getting computers working again. I also like to get up into the mountains nearby, and spending a few nights sleeping in a tent.

Right now, taking care of my mother is my primary occupation, and I am compensated by the state for doing so. This requires that I be home every day, so the Web is about the only way I have of getting out of the house. I use a Dvorak keyboard, which I find extremely easy and intuitive to use, and I am trying to learn Linux so that I won't be dependent on my state's largest company for my operating system.

I am single, and have no children, being of the opinion that responsibility is what causes stress, and stress is what makes people old. Now, I am forced to be responsible for my mother, but she is usually pretty good, and doesn't get into much trouble, as long as I keep the remote away from her.
