I'm a dog fancier and have had them most of my life, so I know a few things about their care and upkeep from long experience. I currently have a female toy poodle and two male Labradoodles (which are fantastic dogs, in case you're not familiar with them).
A radio announcer for nearly 30 years, I'm particularly familiar with pop/rock music of the 70s and 80s.
I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy books, movies and TV shows, and I'm a fan of the NFL, so I follow related categories.
As a Supervisor and member of the Vandal Patrol, I'm especially watchful for nonsense submissions by unregistered users in the categories I follow, and "take out the trash" promptly when I come across it.
By far, my area of greatest interest is the Bible.
I'm not a scholar or theologian; I'm simply a Christian (of no denomination) who has studied the Bible seriously for over forty years (both publicly and privately) because I love it, accepting it to be the divinely inspired Word of God. As a result, I strive to obey and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
As a believer, I'm saddened and often appalled by the misinformation that passes for "Answers" in Bible-related categories, whether it arises from simple ignorance or outright hostility. In addressing blatant falsehood or questionable matters and opinions being passed off as fact, I surely must seem "contrary" at times, but such are the hazards of defending the truth about what the Bible teaches, which is currently under unprecedented attack throughout the world. For those who desire to discredit the Word, WikiAnswers makes an excellent forum.
My concern is not "being right" or evangelizing, as it were: it is for honesty and forthrightness regarding biblical teachings, which are often surprisingly simple and straightforward. Since I tend to be outspoken at times, a bit of explanation about my approach to Bible questions seems appropriate.
When I express an opinion or address a subject under dispute, it will either be under "Discussion" or clearly identified as some form of "Opinion." When an answer is from a specific point of view, I'll clearly identify it as some form of "Perspective" or "Another Answer." When it is straightforward, indisputable fact (for example, "Which is the only gospel to contain the parable of the Prodigal Son?"), I'll give an unqualified "Answer," and point to the source. I strive to provide citations for every biblical answer or contribution. I don't expect or want anyone to "take my word for it" on matters I consider of great importance to us all, so I do my best to direct the reader to "see for themselves." I believe that if I offer a poor answer to a question about God's word, I'll be accountable for it someday…so I take these things very seriously. Only seldom do I offer an answer in any category "off the top of my head" - preferring to do a bit of research and double-check for accuracy - unless I'm absolutely certain or giving a subjective response when called for. In whatever form or under whatever category, my pledge as a contributor and Supervisor is to always do my best to ensure that my submissions are accurate and helpful. Please feel free to contact me on my message board. (I no longer use wikianswers email.)
