1. Never stop learning or talking with other people about your rabbit! Even if you've kept rabbits for years, there's always room for improvement when it comes to understanding and caring for animals.

Expert knowledge is continually advancing, so make sure that what you know about bunnies is up to date! There are a lot of reputable websites online with great information.

When you have questions, concerns, thoughts, observations, or anything at all about your bunny, share it! There are tons of people online in rabbit-specific forums who can help you and whom you can help. (And, of course, don't forget your rabbit-savvy vet!)

2. Know your bunny. Rabbits are individuals, just like humans! The info you find on websites and in books is all general, and may or may not apply to every single rabbit. Your vet can give you personalised information about your bunny!

You can also learn about your bunny at home! Spend time observing your bunny every day and get to know her normal behaviour and appearance. Customise his lifestyle to his personality. Catch illnesses and injuries early on and avoid emergencies!

If you aren't paying attention, a small change in your bunny will go unnoticed and could lead to illness, even death! Lots of rabbits die too young for this reason. Remember, a normal rabbit lifespan is 8-12 years!

Thanks so much to my mentors Jadeacres and especially Quietman - I couldn't have done it without you!!

Hi! My name is Nicole. I've had one rabbit of my own, a small agouti mixed breed named Frank. (Frank was adopted from a local animal shelter, and came down to me through my family. Sadly, he was euthanised in May of 2011, at the approximate age of 12.) Now I'm fostering rabbits with a local organisation called Rabbit Rescue Inc.

I like WikiAnswers because it's a way for me to help people take better care of their pet bunnies! I have done a lot of studying when it comes to rabbits. If you have any questions, or just want some advice or some good links, please write on my message board!
