Reading on from Genesis 1:24 God created animals first, then created Adam, then took a rest. Genesis 2:18 is the lead up to the creation of Eve. Genesis 2:19 in NIV quotes "Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all of beasts of the field..." the key word here is the fifth one, had. Translated as accurate as possible from Hebrew it is the recapping that it was God who created the animals. You decide After the other animals; Genesis 1:25-27 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and the cattle after their kind ... And God said, Let us make man ... So God created man in his own image. Before the other animals Genesis 2;18-19 And the Lord God said it is not good that man should be alone; I will make a help-meet for him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them

Answer The statements at the end of Genesis 1 seem to be more theological than chronological. They are telling who man is -made in God's image and that the male alone is not a complete representation of this image etc. the Genesis 2 statements have more of a chronological meaning to them and they indicate that man was made, then the land animals and then the first woman.

Correction to comprehension of Genesis II Genesis 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. genesis 2. is about the creation of tHE Garden Of Eden, not the Cosmos, that is Genesis I. Unlike all things created in Gen I, Man had no idea of the way or order, of The Cosmos; Eden was a walled garden; man's only way out of which; to know, "That which Is Called "God"" [Refference: II THESSALONIANS 2:3.]

Answer Man was undoubtedly created last for a number of reasons. The Genesis one account which is clearly a chronological account of the days of creation indicates man was made last. Secondly, it would also seem so in terms of the meaning, that man (including woman here as well) was the pinnacle of God's creation and his naming of the animals also indicates his superior position, as does the mention of him, and not the animals being made in God's image.

The account in Genesis 2:4 onwards, as is the case with other ancient literature, is an expanded account of the creation of man and is clearly not strictly chronological. The emphasis in Genesis 2 is that the animals which God made were not suitable companions, or 'fit' for Adam as Eve was. There is thus a contrast between Eve's 'fitness' and the unsuitability of the animals.

Genesis 1:25-27 (King James Version) 25And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:18-19 (King James Version) 18And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. Using Promouns Clearly! to eliminate possability of confusion Pronouns must: agree: In number and person, and clearly refer to a specific noun. And god made the beast of the earth after his kind,... And God said, let US make MAN in OURimage. . .So God created man in his own image, in the image OF God created he him; male and female created he them. [GENNESIS 1:25-26-27.] Taking the three capitalized pronouns, and the preposition; from The Bible quote above; and aligning them by person & number, discloses a 4000+- Gregorian years old, granatical error, in mans' comprehension of scripture. Causing the ensewing chaos in the Cosmos! US: Personal. 1st person plural. MAN: Personal. 3rd person singular. OUR: Possesive. 1st person plural. OF: Preposition, indicating possesion, or association with. And thus it was man created "The creator" in his image, The original of all identity thefts. I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the son's of men , that god might manifest them, and that thy might see that they themselves are beasts. For that which befalleth the sons of man, befalleth beasts; as the one dieth so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: For All Is Vanity. [ECCLESIASTES 3:18-19.] Which leaves the question! Who is US, with only one God?

=====

Proposed answer to the last question:

If one rejects the three-in-one trinity that was first formalized in 325 A.D. and instead goes with the idea of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three separate entities who are one only in purpose - the Father supreme and the Son and Holy Spirit subject to him, then "US" makes more sense. It suggests a pre-mortal existence of the Son - and potentially a pre-mortal existence for all spirits as advanced by Origen, a second and third-century church father. It would also make Jerimiah 1:5 make a lot more sense.

There are two different and quite distinct creation stories in Genesis, so you can take your choice:

The first creation story (Genesis 1:1-2:4a) says that man, both male and female, were created after the animals. This story does not mention Adam, but that is the implication.

The second creation story (Genesis 2:4b-25) says that Adam, the first man, was created before the animals.

Was man created before the dinosaurs?

No. Dinosaurs, and the other animals, were created one day before man.

Where does Genesis say animals were created before man?

It simply does not give this chronology or sequence of events. It has to read into the Scripture. Some people have come to believe that the creation accounts in Genesis 1 and 2 contradict each other. These people believe there is more than one creation account and point to Genesis 1 describing animals being created before Adam, while Genesis 2:19 'could be read' as if Adam had been created before the animals. But the Bible never contradicts itself, because it was inspired by God. Genesis 2:19 doesn't mean that God created Adam first and then the animals. The correct chronological (day-to-day) sequence of events is stated in chapter 1 but not in chapter 2. The content of chapter 2 is a complement and supplement to chapter 1. God means for us to combine the content of the two chapters to get a more complete picture of what happened and why.

Who were the male and female persons God created before Adam and Eve?

Genesis 1:27: "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."The passage in Genesis chapter 1 should not be thought of as other people created by God before he created Adam in Genesis 2: and Eve much later in Genesis 2:22. They are simply two completely different stories from two different sources and written by two different authors. The first creation account, in Genesis 1:1-2:4a (the first sentence in verse 2:4) is attributed to the Priestly source. The second creation account, in Genesis 2:4b-2:20 is attributed to the Yahwist source. This is why the first account has God creating people, both male and female after he had created everything else, while the second account has God creating Adam before any other creation and Eve last of all.

How many times was man created according to the Bible as Genesis 1 says man and woman were created together but Genesis 2 says man was created alone and woman much later?

Only once as is grammatically correct for the phrase 'created man.' Some have attempted to read the accounts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 as two separate accounts - it is not 2 but 1. It is simply because Genesis 1 is an outline of the renewing of the Earth and the flora and fauna for the 'reign of man' which would begin with Adam and Eve. Genesis 2 is a complementary and supplementary continuance of the event mainly from Adam's perspective. Some people have come to believe that the creation accounts in Genesis 1 and 2 contradict each other. These people believe there is more than one creation account and point to Genesis 1 describing animals being created before Adam, while Genesis 2:19 'could be read' as if Adam had been created before the animals. Did snakes come before dinosaurs?

God created all the land animals on the same day, but God has not revealed to us whether he made them simultaneously or one before the other.

In Genesis it states that God created Adam and Eve and others Why weren't the others named?

In Genesis we read that God created the heavens, the earth, the plants, the animals, Adam and Eve. We do not have a biblical account of God creating any other individual humans. All other humans mentioned come from Adam and Eve or their successors. Once Adam and Eve were created God commanded them to be fruitful and multiply, indicating that the remaining members of the human race would come from their lineage.

Is it wrong for the human species to eat other animals?

No it's not. In Genesis of the Christian Holy Bible, God then said it is OK to eat animals but to drink their blood is a sin.

Was there a Being before Adam and Eve?

When asking what existed before Adam and Eve, it is necessary to avoid mixing science and faith.Science tells us that the Earth is over four billion years old and that humans have existed for hundreds of thousands of years. Since a literal reading of the Book of Genesis implies that Adam and Eve were created only six thousand years ago, a literal answer to this question is that everything, even humans, existed long before Adam and Eve.However, putting science aside, Adam and Eve were part of the first creation in the second creation story in Genesis. The first creation story in Genesis says that everything was created shortly before man was created, both male and female. The second creation story says that Adam was created first, then the beasts of the earth, then Eve was created from Adam's rib.For more information, please visit: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation
