Yes he was-- but it doesn't mean what we think today. He was a President of the state of Pennsylvania. Back then, a "president" of Pennsylvania was the same as what we today would call a Governor. While he was one of our Founding Fathers, he was never a U.S. president.

He discovered electricity using a kite, a key tied to kite's string and lightning. However, he was a founding father along with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, John Hancock, Thomas Paine, Roger Sherman, John Jay, James Wilson, and Gouvernor Morris.
