Nope, not really. Whereas the Middle-East made huge advantages during this period, and the Far east already had very advanced culture, the West really didn't come that far, mainly due to the influence of Christianity on the culture. Progress was mainly limited to agricultural and architectural advantages. Medicine and other exact sciences didn't flourish until the Renaissance.
