The laws by which God deals with mankind are simple yet elegant and powerful. God's commandments to man are simple so that any individual of normal cognition is able to comprehend God's will for themselves. But the individual has to want to understand God's will for them before God will reveal Himself. All men and women are weak according to the flesh and so we all sin. God has given us a simple but challenging remedy for sin. It is called repentance. This means to turn away from our sinful ways and change (with God's help) into a more godly being. Complexity comes by man and is weak. Complexity dissipates power. God is simple yet powerful in His dealings with man. He gives to man no more than they are capable of understanding and obeying. I think "simpleton" is a rather strange way to describe the most powerful and wise Being in not just in time and space but in eternity as well.
