Muhammad was originally a Pagan who worshiped the many gods of the Arab pagan religions. On marriage of his first wife Muhammad was exposed to Abrahamic Monotheism. From there while creating Islam it is speculated that Muhammad took the beliefs of Christians and Jews. Evidence of such is found in the Qur'an where apparant 'historical' events are plagiarised from Jewish and Christian scripture (i.e. the Bible) and Jewish/Christian tradition such as the Talmud.
