Yes, it was not very effective however.
As I understand it the original thinking on the "screen" was the sky is above, the ground (grass) is below and people are in the middle. So the screens had a blue tint on the upper third, a green tint on the lower third and sort of a reddish tint in the middle... You can imagine what that did to people in close-ups.
