Undoubtedly The Bible points to Adam and Eve as real people.

Scientific evidence of various kinds points to their real existence. The actual measured mutation rates in mitochondrial DNA, which are far greater than originally thought, point to the origins of humanity as being well within the Biblical time scale. Genealogies of ancient people who were hostile to each other, or didn't know of each others existence and whose records pre-date by centuries any contact with Christian missionaries has been shown to trace genealogies back to Noah and even to Adam but no further.

Well, if Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Moses, Jesus, Joseph, Jethro, and Muhammed existed, then why shouldnt Adam and Eve? whoa all those people are our cousins

It is possible they were real. As far as being the first humans on earth is up for debate.

Answer:

According to major religions, Adam and Eve were put on this earth by God 6000 years ago.

There has already been many discoveries dating humans existence before then.

Some religious people will debate that Adam and Eve were the first human with intelligence. Though that would only prove evolution, which some Christians do not believe in, and you would have to take in the matter of puma punku, which clearly shows intelligence dated to 17000 BC (11000 years difference). A nice thing to look up (considered one of the greatest finds in history).

Answer:

The Adam and Eve story as written in the Bible is pure myth, and there is absolutely no doubt about this in scientific circles. We know for a fact that Homo-sapiens (modern Humans) have been roaming the earth for around 200,000 years. We know for a fact that humans were roaming the Americas for a minimum 15,000 years.

Modern DNA evidence says we were never down to just two progenitors, or 6 for the "Flood" which was also a myth, and we ALL came out of Africa. There is much evidence that Proto-humans were using tools over a million years ago

Most all of the famous stories from the Old Testament are purely mythical, although most places and some person names are real. Some of the more famous personages from the Bible who's existence is doubtful are: Moses, Joshua, Abraham, Ishmael, and Lot.

Jewish answer:

Adam and Eve were real people and are buried beneath the graves of Abraham and Sarah in Hebron. Jewish tradition stretches back in an unbroken chain to Abraham and from him to Adam. Discussion of rock-dating is beyond the scope of this Question; both sides of the issue (young-Earth or otherwise) can be researched online, so those choosing to believe in the historicity of Adam and Eve have no difficulty in doing so.

It depend on your belief Adam and Eve may have been the first people that the Jews recorded as their ancestors who were themselves the children of others or they could be created out of nothing as is suggested in mythology This is something you must decide in your own mind.

Answer 1

Yes, Adam and Eve were true. They were true to each other. Together, they weathered the bad times and enjoyed the good. For example, they shared the humiliation of their expulsion from Eden and the joys of parenthood. They were true to their family. They were grandparents and elderly ancestors to Cain's family line despite his having killed his own brother, Abel. They were true to their God. They disobeyed divine law. But when confronted with their disobedience, they didn't persist in the error of their ways. They showed respect to God in admitting to what they had done. And they tried to make up for the lapse by respecting God and passing that respect on to their descendants.

Answer 2

No. It is a myth that was developed from earlier myths in the Near East.

Answer 3

Yes, the cave people really did live. Scientists have found the skeletons of cave dwellers. The skeletons are part of museum collections throughout the world.

And yes, Adam and Eve really did live. Their story is told in the book of Genesis. Genesis is the opening book to the Hebrew Bible. The information that the book gives forms the basis of three major world religions: Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Additionally, Genesis and the other books of the Old Testament are accepted sources of information on the history of the ancient world.

No - Adam and Eve were purely mythical. Leon R. Kass (The Beginning of Wisdom: Reading Genesis) says we can learn most from their story by regarding it as a mythical yet realistic portrait of permanent truths about our humanity, rather than as a historical yet idealised portrait of a blissful existence we once enjoyed but lost.

There is no proof that Adam and Eve ever existed. If they did exist, they could not have been the first people, because scientists say that modern humans evolved over two hundred thousand years ago, in Africa.

You once believed that Santa Claus and the tooth fairy were true. So, you may now believe that Adam and Eve were true if you so wish. However, scientists say that the first humans lived long before the time attributed to Adam and Eve, and that they evolved from earlier species. To quote the early Church Father Origen (On First Principles, 3.1.1):

Now what man of intelligence will believe that the first and the second and the third day, and the evening and the morning existed without the sun and moon and stars? And that the first day if we may so call it, was even without a heaven? And who is so silly as to believe that God, after the manner of a farmer, "planted a paradise eastward in Eden", and set in it a visible and palpable "tree of life", of such a sort that anyone who tasted its fruit with his bodily teeth would gain life: and again that one could partake of "good and evil" by masticating the fruit taken from the tree of that name? And when God is said to "walk in the paradise in the cool of the day" and Adam to hide himself behind a tree, I do not think anyone will doubt that these are figurative expressions which indicate certain mysteries through a semblance of history and not through actual events.

According to the biblical account, Adam and Eve were the first persons in creation and lived about 6,000 years ago, when the world was created.
However, we have ample evidence of human settlements long before 6,000 years ago, meaning that the biblical account of Adam and Eve and the genealogies of their descendants are not literally true.

Moreover, we know from Archaeology that human ancestors have lived on earth for millions of years - long before the time attributed to Adam and Eve.

The story of Adam and Eve are so central to the Abrahamic faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, that it seems to be one of the central doctrines of those religions. However, scholars have asked whether the accounts should be read literally and whether Adam and Eve were real people.

Bruce Feiler (Where God Was Born: A Journey by Land to the Roots of Religion) says the story of Enkidu, in the Epic of Gilgamensh, is strikingly similar to the story of Adam and Eve are striking. In the Gilgamesh epic, the king's of subjects appealed to the gods because of his ruthlessness. They created a nemesis, Enkidu, who was born naked in the wilderness. Enkidu was tempted by a harlot, who educated him about sin and taught him to wear clothes.

S. H. Hooke (Middle Eastern Mythology) believes the stories of Adam and Eve's children are simply myths that are not meant to be understood literally or rationally. He shows a clear parallel between the biblical account and an older middle eastern myth in which Tammuz had to choose between the shepherd-god and the farmer-god.

The distinguished biblical scholar, Raymond E. Brown, says that the author of Genesis, even if he drew on earlier legends, wrote his story working back from the world he knew to picture its origins.

Origen, one of the early Church Fathers, said that scripture had three levels of meaning: literal, allegorical and symbolic. In On First Principles, 3.1.1, he said:"Now what man of intelligence will believe that the first and the second and the third day, and the evening and the morning existed without the sun and moon and stars? And that the first day if we may so call it, was even without a heaven? And who is so silly as to believe that God, after the manner of a farmer, "planted a paradise eastward in Eden", and set in it a visible and palpable "tree of life", of such a sort that anyone who tasted its fruit with his bodily teeth would gain life: and again that one could partake of "good and evil" by masticating the fruit taken from the tree of that name? And when God is said to "walk in the paradise in the cool of the day" and Adam to hide himself behind a tree, I do not think anyone will doubt that these are figurative expressions which indicate certain mysteries through a semblance of history and not through actual events."

Yair Zakovitch, Dean of Humanities at Hebrew University is quoted as saying, "The thing to remember about the Bible is that the events and characters are just vehicles to convey messages. The biblical narrative was written to educate our young nation, not so much to tell us what really happened."

Do Adam and Eve Really Exist?

According to the biblical account, Adam and Eve were the first persons in creation and lived about 6,000 years ago. However, according to current dating methods, there is evidence of human settlements long before 6,000 years ago, thus meaning that the biblical account of Adam and Eve and the genealogies of their descendants would not literally be true. Current archaeological consensus would indicate that modern humans have lived on earth many thousands of years before the time attributed to Adam and Eve. However, some question the accuracy of radiocarbon dating especially if atmospheric conditions were drastically different than they exist today as described in the Genesis account. However, this scepticism assumes incorrectly, that radiocarbon dating is the principal means that archaeologists use for dating finds more than 4,000 years old. So, according to current archeology, Adam and Eve did not really exist. The Bible, on the other hand, describes them in terms that would indicate that they really did exist.
