Yes, woman warriors existed, and some of the greek amazon pottery & textiles specifically depicted women wearing Scythian or Sauramation garb, armed with bows and riding on horseback. Archeologist Davis-Kimball has discovered female burials out in the Asian steppes with arrowheads and horse-riding equipment. There are other woman-warrior burials found in Thrace (ancient Bulgaria) who wore beautifully designed snake-covered calf-guards & arm guards. These are the areas where the nomadic Sauramations & Scythians roamed. 'Amazon' city-states were supposed to have existed at one point in ancient Turkey and dual-queenship (one warrior queen & one priestess queen) was known in Crete.
PBS even made a show on the subject!
It's a fact that the Greek's ancient female oracular site of Delphi was dedicated to the Earth Goddess Gaia centuries before Apollo's priests ursurped it and forced the lead Oracle Priestess to wear Apollo's mask. There are some pretty theories that Amazons/women warriors arose at this time to fight & protect remaining Goddess sites from total male takeover, hence the Greeks amazing output of 'Amazon' inspired statues & art may be more commemorative of actual historic events than mere fanciful decoration.
