The Japanese Type 99 Light Machine Gun was a derivative of the early Type 11 and Type 96 machine guns. It was upgraded to use the same 7.7mm cartridge as the Type 99 Rifle. Both Machine Guns look simliar ---kinda ugly. Both have a curved clip mounted on TOP of the gun and seems to obstruct the sighting of the gun.
