In spite of being an All American genre, & although by the end of the 20th century 11 films were nominated for Best-Pic from the western genre, only 3 westerns have won the Oscar for Best-Pic, the 1st to win was 'CIMMARON' in 1930-31', 2nd was 'Dances with Wolves in 1990' & the 3rd is the Clint Eastwood directed 'Unforgiven in 1992'.
