I think so, but he might give it to Paul Mcartney.
Micheal Jacson bought 50% of the back catalogue1984 for $47.5 million
He sold 50% of his share to sony in 1995 for $90million , so at the time of his death he apparently stilled owned 25% of the total catalogue.
Michael Jackson bought The Beatles catalog when it went up for auction after he was advised by his friend Paul McCartney (one of the Beatles) to invest his money by buying into the music publishing business. McCartney hadn't wanted to spend the money to buy the catalog himself, but was later uphappy with Jackson both for buying it and for licensing the Beatles songs to be played in commercials. Jacksons purchase of the Beatles catalog marked the end of his friendship with McCartney but it remained a valuable asset to him for the rest of his life.
They didn't. The Beatles lost control of Northern Songs (their music publishing company) in 1969, after their publisher (Dick James) and his partner sold their interest in the company to ATV. ATV bought enough other shares (Northern Songs was a public company, traded on the London Stock Exchange) to become the majority shareholders. John Lennon and Paul McCartney "cashed out" at that point, selling their stock to ATV also. (George Harrison and Ringo Starr kept their shares, totaling about 1.8% ownership of the company. Each had already started their own publishing companies, independent of Northern Songs.)
Northern Songs went up for sale in 1985. McCartney and Jackson were friends and collaborators at that point, and McCartney encouraged Jackson to invest in music publishing (which he had done in the 1970s, and prospered), never expecting Jackson to outbid him for Northern Songs. Afterwards, McCartney pointed out that his and Lennon's writer's royalties had never been increased (they were young and naive when they signed the initial contracts, and weren't paid what they easily could have been), and asked for an increase. When Jackson turned him down, it was the end of their friendship.
Michaelowns the publishing rights to most of the Beatles songs, he does not own their recordings.
He does not own the Beatles songs. He owns the publishing rights. The Beatles recordings still belong to them.
Michael bought the publishing rights to the Beatles music, he doesn't own their recordings he just collects a 1/2 writer royalty.
I think he does.
No
Michael Jackson bought the rights to many of The Beatles songs many years ago, outbidding Paul McCarthy for them. Recently he has sold some of them in an attempt to liquidate some of his debts.Rumor has it that he leaves the remainder to Paul McCarthy in his will. Michael Jackson bought the publishingrights to most of the Beatles catalog. The individual Beatles still retained songwriters rights and we paid for it each time a song in the catalog was licensed.
Under current law, 95 years from the date of registration. So the last of them still have about 55 years to go. The Beatles catalog is currently co-owned by Sony Music, and Jackson's estate. (These are the publishing rights to the music, not the Beatles' recordings.)
I love Michael and I like Elvis but The Beatles were just incredible, their music is simply amazing, their influence on pop culture is still being felt even today, so yeah The Beatles are the best. i respect beatles but Michael Jackson is the best and no one could be like him.........so Michael is the best the beatles i believe :) MJ and Elvis are still really good though
Be cause it's Michael Jackson....

Yes. Paul McCartney and John Lennon (now his estate) always owned 50% of the rights to the Beatles catalog. However, in an effort to save on taxes, the remaining 50% interest were sold to a company called ATV. When ATV was up for sale, Michael Jackson purchased ATV's interest. This did not diminish the royalties payable to Paul and John's estate. Sony then purchased a portion of ATV from Michael Jackson. However, Michael Jackson's estate remains an owner in Sony ATV.
Michael Jackson the publishing rights for a number of songs, including a large portion of the Beatles catalog when he acquired Northern Lights LTD in 1985. He does not own the copyrights, those are still held by the original composers (or their estates).
