Among other things Manson was convicted of eight counts of first degree murder and eight counts of conspiracy to commit murder for the August 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders. Originally given the death penalty he is serving a life sentence in Corcoran State Prison in California. Although Manson has tried for parole many times he is unremorseful and basically unchanged and will most likely die in prison.

He also might be out on parole next year as of this year he is 76 and still alive Google him you'll find a picture

What he did to show that he was a leader was he made those dropout kids kill certain people. He made them do that by saying that they were going to be bad influences to the earth, then leading to them killing innocent people.

I personally think that Charles Manson is not a bad person, even though of the crimes he did.

Charles Manson was the head of the Manson Family, and this group committed a number of homicides in the late 60's. Manson himself was not convicted of murder, but of conspiracy in the killings. He is currently serving a life sentence in state prison, and is in his mid 70's.

Charles Manson was convicted of conspiracy in several murders. He was never charged with murder, but of inspiring his "family members" to do his bidding, which included the homicides.

Charles Manson was convicted of murder. California law states that a person that orders a murder is just as guilty of that murder as if he had done the killing himself. Manson was giving multiple death sentences. The criteria for the death penalty is 1st degree murder with special circumstances. These circumstances must be present with the 1st degree murder. In other words, even a 1st degree murder conviction may not get you the death penalty. It has to comply with the circumstances mentioned. So it would be impossible for Manson to be on death row with a conspiracy conviction.

He didn't actually kill anyone, but his "family" did.

He is clearly delusional, and found a bunch of lost , misguided , easily influened people to do his bidding. He remains in prison unrepentant.

The brutal and bizarre Tate/La Bianca murders his Familymembers committed in 1969 made Charlie notorious globally.
