Factors affecting diffusion are:

1) Temperature: The higher the temperature, the higher the rate of diffusion.

Example: Put potassium permanganate in a beaker with water (room temp.) and do the same in a beaker with water (boiled). The potassium permanganate would spread faster in hot water.

2) Size of particle: The bigger the particle, the higher the energy to diffuse.

3) State of matter: Solids take more time to diffuse compared to liquids, liquids take more time to diffuse compared to gases, and gases take less time to diffuse compared to liquids and solids.

Example: Light an incense stick. The smell of the smoke (from the stick) would reach you as soon as it is burned. The smoke diffused very fast.

4) Nature of matter: The denser the matter, the slower the rate of diffusion.

Example: Honey in water would diffuse slower than ink in water. (Honey is denser than ink.)

Diffusion, osmosis, and facilitated diffusion.

Diffusion with a channel protein?

They are the channels by which molecules enter in facilitated diffusion.

What is a protein moves molecules across a membrane?

Facilitated diffusion moves molecules through cell membranes passively.

What are the factors which affect rate of diffusion?

the factors which affect rate of diffusion is the factors that mixing one substance to another.

Are aquaporins involved in osmosis or facilitated diffusion?

facilitated diffusion

How does Facilitated diffusion differs from diffusion in that facilitated diffusion?

Facilitated diffusion uses integrated proteins that act as channels for ions or molecules to pass through.

Is facilitated diffusion active?

No. Facilitated diffusion is a type of passive transport.

Facilitated Diffusion

Does osmosis or facilitated diffusion require the presence of membrane channels?

facilitated diffusion

Three types of passive transport?

There are three forms of passive transport, or the movement of biochemical and other atomic or molecular substances across the cell membranes. They are: osmosis, simple diffusion or facilitated diffusion, and filtration.

Is osmosis an example of facilitated diffusion or active transport?

No. Facilitated diffusion is an example of passive transport because it does not require the cell to expend energy.
