Couldn't find the exact minimum requirement but Auburn had a listing of their overexertion averages were 24.3 on the ACT (composite score) and 1122 on the SAT I. A little trick someone taught me when I was applying to colleges was, transfer students seem to have a much easier time being accepted than others. So if you can't meet the minimums required to attend your "dream" school maybe one could consider starting somewhere else and transferring at a later date. Not that I'm telling you how to go about making such an important decision, but it's one more piece of information to consider along the way.

According to The Princeton Review, the middle 50%* of students scored in the following ranges on the ACTs:

ACT Scores

Composite......23 - 29

Math..............22 - 28

English...........24 - 30

Writing...........22 - 27

Average HS GPA: 3.69

* This indicates 25% of incoming freshman scored below the published range in one or more areas, while the top 25% scored above the published range. Auburn uses a comparative, rather than fixed-score, method to evaluate freshman applications.

The Auburn site should help resolve what is required (see Related Links, below). In addition to achieving a strong high school GPA and ACT or SAT scores, you also need to write a paper explaining why you should attend, as well as why you want to attend Auburn University.

Other factors that improve your chances of being accepted include participating in extracurricular activities, having special talent or abilities, character and personality traits; being a first-generation college student; being the son or daughter of Auburn alumni; state residency; volunteer work; and work experience. Good luck.

Auburn University doesn't publish mandatory minimum scores for enrollment; each year's applications are considered as a pool, with freshman admissions selected from among the best candidates.

The Princeton Review provides statistics for currently enrolled students as a guide to Auburn's standards, however. Approximately 78% of freshman candidates opt for taking the ACT, as opposed to 22% who take the SAT. Both tests are acceptable. Applicants are required to take submit scores for the writing section.

ACT Scores

SAT Scores

The middle 50%* of students scored in the following ranges on the SATs:

Reading.......520 - 640

Math...........540 - 660

Writing........510 - 620

* This indicates 25% of incoming freshman scored below the published range in one or more areas, while the top 25% scored above the published range. Auburn uses a comparative, rather than fixed-score, method to evaluate freshman applications.

High School GPA

Average GPA.............3.69

Percent with 3.75+......48.0%

Percent 3.5 - 3.75.......19.6%

Percent 3.25 - 3.49.....14.8%

Percent 3.0 - 3.24.......11.7%

Percent 2.5 - 2.99.......05.6%

Percent 2.0 - 2.4.........00.3%

Graduated Top 10%.....40.0% (for statistical purposes only; not considered for admission)

Graduated Top 25%.....65.0% (for statistical purposes only; not considered for admission)

Freshman admission to Auburn is competitive, but stronger standardized test scores can help offset a lower GPA and vice-versa.

Answer

Auburn has removed the admission requirements, and now takes admissions based on everyone who applies. Last year (2008), the admission requirement was 3.2 GPA, and 24 on ACT. I got in with a 2.8 GPA and a 28 on my ACT. 3.7 GPA and a 26 on act was the average for the 4000 first time freshmen who enrolled in 2008.
