Have you tried going to the web page for the college you are looking at and seeing if they have the requirements for admission posted somewhere on the web page.

I'm not sure if you just meant a larger, strong institution like UW, or UW in particular, but I know that UW admissions is a highly heuristic process, particularly based on your application essay. Weak students with a penchant for diversity and a willingness to learn are often accepted over boring, but academically strong students. Generally speaking, a 3.5GPA and an 1800+ SAT are solid, but your essay will likely mean more in the midst of the flood of "good" student applications they receive each quarter.
