Same god, different 'prophet.' All major religions worship the same god, the difference comes when you talk about which prophet they follow. Muslims follow the teachings of mohammed, Christians follow the teachings of jesus and Jews follow the teachings of moses.
Not quite, there is a bit of a difference:
The Jews and Christians believe in the same God, referred to as "I AM" or "YHWH" which was made pronounceable when it was translitterated into "Jehova" (see link to Tetragrammaton, below). Most Jews do not accept that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.
The Muslims follow a composite god who was combined into the moon god from the multiple dieties of the Kaaba and given authority by Muhammed who combined the pagan teachings of the desert Arabs with Christian and Jewish teachings that he gleaned from merchants in Mecca (See link to Moon god, below ).
A primary difference is that YHWH is the God who created all things. YHWH is the God of Israel of Moses and Abraham and is the God of love but Allah is the god that requires his followers to kill non-believers if they won't accept him (See God of Love, below).
The Creator has one true name which is represented by the letters YHVH in English. The Hebrew letters are "yud, hei, vav, hei". These four letters are referred to as the tetragrammaton and are a contraction of the Hebrew words for, "was, is, and will be". His true name was only said in the Temple and with the Temple's destruction we lost the correct pronunciation.
In the Tanach (Jewish Bible), there are 72 different 'names' used for The Creator, these aren't actual names though, they're descriptions of Him that are contextual. In daily conversation, most Jews use the name 'HaShem' which literally translates to 'The Name' in reference to His true name.
Jewish people believe in the same G-d as Christians and Muslims. However, Judaism does not recognise Jesus as the Son of G-d, while Christians obviously do and Muslims recognise Him as a prophet.
Jewish people worship God as you know him from the Bible or from the Quran.
The key differences between these 3 major, monotheistic religions are:
- Jewish people do not believe Jesus to be the messiah and therefore they adhere to the Old Testament
- Christianity is centered around the belief that Christ was our savior and therefore centers around the New Testament
- Islam believes Jesus Christ to be a prophet and a man of significant connection with God, although they do not believe that he was the son of God and just one of many prophets.
In conclusion: Jews, Christians and Muslims all worship the same god. Apart from certain rules, which may differ, what sets them apart is their view on Jesus Christ.
The God of Abraham. This is the same God that Christians, and arguably Muslims, worship. The name of that God is"I AM" and that is what the Israelis have known him by since old tesament. In time, when Jesus makes his Second Coming he will inform them that He is the same "I AM" as in the old and new testament. But it is not intended for them to change their minds enmass right now. Israelis expected a general to come and vanquish their enemies when he came.
