Only two movies that are strictly Indian produced films have ever been nominated for the Foreign Language category of the Academy Awards ("Oscars"). The very first was the 1957 "Mother India". The second and most recent is te 2001 "Lagaan". Another film, the 2005 "Water" was a nominee and was a Hindi language film, yet it might not be credited to India as it was a Canadian production and was Canada's Oscar entry.
