IP stands for internet Protocol address. Is a numerical label of 32 bits given to each electronic equipment involved in a computer network that uses internet protocol to communicate.

Usually the 32-bit address is displayed in dotted-decimal notation.

Every computer on the internet has a unique numerical address, called an Internet Protocol (IP) address. It is used to route packets to it across the Internet. The format of an IP address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number can be zero to 255. For example, 1.160.10.240 could be an IP address. The IP address is the geographical descriptor of the virtual world, and the addresses of both source and destination systems are stored in the header of every packet that flows across the Internet.

You can find your IP address on a Windows computer by the following steps.

1. Go to Start---->Select Run---->Enter in the command: cmd----> At the command prompt enter in: ipconfig .It will show your PC's IP address. You can find your IP address on a Mac computer by checking your Network control panel. No matter what electronic device you are using and where you are, if you are connected to the web you can visit the following site ip-details.com to dynamically find your IP address in real time. It will show your IP address and it includes Geographic location information (includes country, region/state, city, latitude, longitude and telephone area code.), and a location specific map.

There are two types address namely static and dynamic.

Static IP address: An IP address that is fixed and never changes. This is in contrast to a dynamic IP address which may change at any time.

Dynamic IP address: An IP address that is not static and could change at any time. This IP address is issued to you from a pool of IP addresses allocated by your ISP or DHCP Server.
