10w 40 or 15w 40 motor oil is of the correct grade for use in motorcycles, although in an emergency, just about anything will do for a short period. Whether the oil should be synthetic depends on two things: firstly, the type of clutch the bike has and secondly, the personal preferences of the rider. Synthetic oil as a rule will decrease the duty cycle of a wet clutch, but in some cases may produce a more gradual (hence, comfortable) "holding point"-to-"biting point" transition. Since (to this writers knowledge) the bike in question has a wet clutch, synthetic oil is not recommended by the manufacturer. Visit a lubricant specialist for further advice on specific brand-names available in your area, as some are better than others.
